About

Hi, I'm Nicklas, known online as MiniWest. I work as an IT operator at Tradewind GmbH. In 2026 I finished my apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration (Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration) at implec GmbH.

My focus is network infrastructure, especially routing, BGP and autonomous systems. With AS215666 I run my own network, plus my own hardware in a colocation rack. That hardware runs MiniWest Cloud.

On the side I experiment with new networking technology, keep expanding my setup and keep learning, mostly around system administration and DevOps.

Journey

  1. First experiments with VPS servers from providers like Datalix and DeinServerHost.

  2. Started my apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration at implec GmbH. First services on dedicated hardware at Hetzner Online.

  3. Expanded the server portfolio at Hetzner Online and added more services such as mail servers and web hosting.

  4. Moved to my own hardware in a data center (WIIT AG DUS6). Founded my own AS (AS215666) and the cloud label MiniWest Cloud.

  5. Finished my apprenticeship and started as an IT operator at Tradewind GmbH. Moved into a 1/8 rack colocation at RealtoxMedia with dedicated router hardware and an Arista switch.
