Privacy
In short: no cookies, no tracking, no third parties. Only the technically necessary server logs, which are deleted after 14 days.
This is a translation for convenience. The German version is authoritative.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is Nicklas Haken. Postal address and contact details are listed in the legal notice (Impressum). You can reach me by email at contact@miniwest.dev.
2. Hosting on my own infrastructure
This website runs on my own infrastructure (MiniWest Cloud, AS215666). The servers are located in a colocation facility in Germany and are operated by me. There is no external hosting provider and no content delivery network (CDN). Fonts, images and scripts are loaded exclusively from this server.
3. Server log files
With every request, the web server (Apache) automatically stores the following data:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- requested page or file and HTTP status code
- amount of data transferred
- referrer URL (the previously visited page, if sent)
- browser and operating system (user agent)
I need this data to deliver the website, find errors and defend against attacks. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are automatically deleted after 14 days. They are not combined with other data or analysed for advertising.
4. No cookies, no tracking
This website does not set cookies and does not use any analytics or tracking tools. It also does not store any data in your browser (no local storage). The small script on the page only calculates the live clock and the age and sends nothing to any server.
5. Contacting me
If you contact me by email or Matrix, I process your details (e.g. address or Matrix ID and the content of your message) to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where a contract is concerned. Mail and Matrix servers also run on my own infrastructure. I delete messages once they are dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
6. External links
This website contains links to other sites, e.g. Bluesky, matrix.to or my own projects. Simply viewing this site does not transfer any data to them. Only when you click a link do the privacy policies of the target site apply.
7. SSL/TLS encryption
All data is transferred exclusively over encrypted HTTPS.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
Just email me at contact@miniwest.dev. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
